Practical guidance

The aim of this E-learning course is to raise awareness of the development of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in the Swiss financial sector and the contribution of a specialised ADR scheme to appropriate risk management at corporate and industry level. It also aims to support the integration of the Ombudsman Office as defined in the Financial Services Act (FinSA) into a company’s complaints management, in addition to contributing to the successful development of ADR in Switzerland.

The E-learning is intended for anyone working in the Swiss financial sector or interested in ADR such as mediation, particularly commercial mediation. This includes professionals who supervise compliance with the obligation to affiliate to a FinSA Ombudsman Office (or “Mediation Body”) and the respective duties, providers of training and advice on FinSA requirements or risk management, Risk and Compliance functions, legal services, as well as persons interested in the mediator profession in commercial relations or the regulation of mediation.

The online course takes 45 minutes to complete and concludes with a final assessment to validate participants’ learning progress. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate. The course is available in four languages: English, German, French and Italian. It can also be used to fulfil part of the requirements under Articles 6 and 22 FinSA.
